Bosnia & Herzegovina — Sarajevo & Mostar
Your Journey
Sarajevo — Arrival
Your private driver meets you at the airport for a gentle introductory walk through the city: Baščaršija, the Ottoman bazaar quarter of cobbled lanes and copper workshops that has traded continuously since the 15th century; the Sebilj Fountain at its heart; and Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque (1531), the finest Ottoman mosque in the Balkans. The evening meal is a plate of local Ćevapi — grilled minced meat in flatbread with cream cheese.
Travnik & Jajce — Full Day
An early start heads northwest to Travnik — Travnik Fortress on the ridge above the old town, and Plava Voda (Blue Water), a spring-fed stream lined with old mills and gardens. The route continues to Jajce, where the Jajce Waterfall drops directly into the town and the Pliva Lakes — two connected lakes fringed with wooden watermills at Mlinčići — create one of Bosnia's most distinctive landscapes. Return to Sarajevo in the evening.
Nature Day — Vrelo Bosne or Trebević Mountain
After two full days on the road, a slower day restores the pace. The relaxed option is Vrelo Bosne — a tree-canopied park at the source of the Bosna River on the city's edge, with swan-filled ponds and century-old plane trees accessible by horse-drawn carriage. The more active option is a cable car ascent to Trebević Mountain (1,627 m) for panoramic views over Sarajevo and the surrounding valley.
Mostar — Stari Most & Blagaj Tekke
Scenic stops at Konjic on the Neretva River and Jablanica Lake break the drive south into Herzegovina. In Mostar: Stari Most — the reconstructed 1566 Ottoman stone arch bridge that gave the city its name — and the old town bazaar of stone-paved lanes and craft workshops. Blagaj Tekke, a 16th-century Dervish monastery built at the source of the Buna River beneath a 200-metre cliff, is a short drive from the city. Kravica Waterfalls is an optional addition if time and energy allow. Return to Sarajevo late.
Sarajevo — Departure
A final morning stroll through Baščaršija to pick up souvenirs — copper engravings, handwoven textiles, and traditional jewellery — before your driver transfers you to the airport.
